I can completely understand where u r coming from. My bussiness foreclosed and I took on a 1971 gran teton.(insanity starts here) However, I have decided to challenge myself and go completely off the grid. I am now in the process of installing a wood burning stove. By the time I'm done with this "project" I will have invested a total of $1300.00, not counting the initial $ 400 aquisition cost. It beats the cost of most of the newer rv's in the same class. I trust the way I rebuilt mine. And I didn't have to cash in any CD's to do it!
