Has anyone mounted a satellite radio in their rig? Sirius tells me I have to mount the antenna outside using the magnetic mount. Unfortunately magnets do not stick to fibreglas very well without help.
But I was wondering if since the front shell is fibreglas with a rubber roof, could I mount the antenna inside on the ceiling thus avoiding another hole in the vehicle

Do the radio waves pass through fibreglas better than metal?

We have an XM receiver in our Airstream 345. I just have the little antenna laying on the dash next to the windshield. Works well. There are some times the signal is weak, but no big deal.

I run my sirius antenna out through a window (the cables pretty thin) and have it placed on top of the awning cover out of sight. It's fixed with outdoor double sided tape. It didn't work on the dash for me. The first picture shows a temperature gauge as well as the wire coming out the window

Looks like trial and error to see what is the best. We are at the side of the signal range so I suspect I have to roof mount it. A little silicon caulking should hold it down until I get to 150 MPH then I will not be worrying about the radio.

It's easy to place inside the front cap so I will try that first. Thanks for all your comments. I will let you know what happens.
Too much to do and so little time.
