Hi all,

Just finished my install of a Banks Power Pack system on our 87 Southwind. The install went pretty well except for two manifold bolts that had stripped heads [ fire wrench to the rescue]. The install manual was well thought out and written. I did have to contact Banks about a heat shield that was in the kit with no reference as to where it went [ a few moments on the phone and a quick down load solved the mystery]. I was really impressed with the big difference in the overall driveabiity, only about 20mi. so far. What led me to this kit was the fact that I needed to replace pretty much the whole exhaust system due to cracked manifolds both sides, both mufflers, one head pipe, both tail pipes and all the hangers . With an eye towards fuel mileage and overall power. The reduced price of the all stainless power pack system for our coach [ My guess is they are trying reduce the inventory of older kits] out weighed the cost of all the parts needed to repair the stock exhaust. Plus the kit came with a fresh air scoop and governor springs to change the shift points. The wife and I are taking a quick weekend trip on Friday, about 200mi.,so I can get a handle on gas mileage.

P.S. We found out how bad  the exhaust leaks were when the CO detector in the coach went off while driving down the road. We wonder what would have happened if the detector hadn't gone off.

Will write more later,

John
