Any body ever add a vacuum booster to your diesel with power (Non-Air brakes) rig?

My breaks are decent (the boosters were rebuilt, all new lines and everthing newly adjusted) but I feel a difference in the break pressure and travel on the pedal if I keep the rpm's a bit higher, kinda like the vacuum pump is putting out more at the higher rpm's, which makes sense then at idle when one is stopping.

I tought about adding in an electric vacuum pump to help out or maybe a vacuum reseviour (tank) to give it a boost during low rpm's.  Any thoughts on this idea or what has worked for you?

The 6DS70 Mitsubishi vacuum pump should be adjustable (I would think) maybe that is the needed route to go?  I like the stronger break feel I get from time to time.  Oh, for those who don't know, it is a 65 Travco, dodge chassis.

The 6.5 GM diesels 94 to 99 have a vacuum pump that is used only to control the waste gate on the turbo. It is mounted on the engine and powered with the main belt. Don't think that it would be of much help to you, unless you can make a mount for it to go on your engine. The rotation I think can go either way. Take a look at them at one of the parts stores on line. Don't know if it will have the volume you would need for your vacuum booster. It is a large diaphragm pushed by a cam, all contained the the unit.

Not sure if that would have enough capacity eiter. I know some of the mid 80's GM cars had an electric auxiliary vacuum pump on them, might see if I can find one of those. Still thinking about this whole thing.

The E350 Ambulances (Ford Power Stroke powered) that I used to run in had a belt driven vacuum pump that supplied the brake booster. Things would sure get exciting at 85 or 90 mph when the pump failed, made braking extremely difficult. Would sometimes throw the belt when the pump went that was shared with the power steering pump.

My Ford diesel dually has that same pump although it is driven off the alternator. Broke the belt once and yes, that is some adventure trying to stop! Trying to stay away from adding anything else to the front of the motor as it is a bearcat to get too. That is why I was thinking about the electric pumps.
