Me too. I was planning to redo the shower this spring. Chris, if you have more photos....maybe you could post an article in the DIY section about this improvement?

Chris, I have already the outside vent cover off, and I see where the gas inlet can catch on the outside housing, so that wasn't what was holding it in.  After finding how much force was required to pull out the ice maker maybe I need to keep pulling on the furnace until it gives.  Good idea on checking the shower now that the ice maker is out.  I seem to have partition there, did you take yours out or were the pipes exposed on yours?.  Excellent plumbing job there.

Yeah...I got a closet on other side...may cut a access hole.
And cover with cedar.
Someone told me to lightly sand the cedar to bring the scent back.

Mark, let me take a closer look at mine tonight. If you have the vent off, the valve off and the electric plug unpluged, it should come out fairly well.

I have not removed it from the case while in the coach, but while I had it out, it just slid right out of the case. Have you tried to post any pic's yet? Could be something that I'm missing.

Mark, there is a panel that can be removed and will expose the valve. Take a photo of that wall and let me see what you have.

klattu, take a closer look at that panel. Airstream made most things like that accessible by bowing  a panel or removing rivets to let you into the area to work on it.

Yes if you lightly sand the cedar, it will bring back the cedar smell. Cedar over time will form a oil over it and kind of self seals.

Keep this thread going fellas. My furnace worked fine the first two years I owned the 310 and then last year would not hit a lick from the first camping trip so I am watching and reading from the sidelines knowing I will have all the info I need to have heat again this year.
Thanks to all for the input.

Rick, make sure that you go the site from Bryant RV and print off the manuals. I could not tell you how many times that I have read through them.

Chris, Sorry for the delay on posting these pics, I had some work done on my knee (another of my restoration projects) and have been laid up for a few days.  Hopefully these are small enough to post.  I think I have everything disconnected.

Sorry to hear about your knee. Rough on the old body getting old! Get Well soon.

This could be rough to work on witha knee problem, but as low as it is, you can lay down and work at getting it out.

You have the same notch in the outside case that I do. It might help to take the two screws attaching the outer case to the floor out. This will allow you to at least move the unit so that the gas valve will miss the door post. You will not get the outer case out with the carpet and tack strip in the way.

Here is a pic of the screw that holds the inside to the outer case.

I can not think of what would be hanging up the inside to the outer case. I think that I will disconet my unit tomarrow and try to remove it for the outer case. I will need to know for myself that it can be done. After I have the Bamboo flooring down, I would have to to do a major lift of the cabnet to remove the unit for service.

Let you know what I find out tomarrow night.

Ok Mark, I took mine out tonight. After I remembered to remove the screw in the exhaust vent, it slid right out. You will have to take the screws holding the case to the floor so you can clear the door post.

I will have to make sure that I can lift the cabinet up after I put the bamboo floor down. I will not be able to get it out if I need to after the flooring is down.

I really don't know what could be hanging up!? Just know you will not get the outer case out, but you should not have to.

Here is a shots of the unit out, and one of the case in place.

Good luck buddy!
