Well I'm going to have 4 boxes at home today with the new Hedman headers, 70 series Flowmasters, H-pipe and new HEI components and wires from Summit Racing.
I will take some photos and try to keep posted of the project. I was going to take some Dog house temps before and after the headers. Hope I can get that done tonight before I tear in to it.
Wish me luck ! |

Chris, If I can do it you can do it. Once the old manifolds come off....it's smooth sailing. Watch the bolt forward of the #1 cyl. It's behind the hydroboost and hard to get a socket on. (Spent two days with various pull out tools and tungsten drills "fixing" my mistake on this one bolt.) |

Thanks Coop, just got to get past gettin off the manifolds, like Steven said, then hope smooth sailing!
Will work on some of the burnt insulation from past leaking mufflers when I get the old system down.
Thanks for the heads up on the bolt. I know that the last PO had the right side replaced just before we got her. Hope that one won't be a problem, but the left side, looks original, could be a problem!

Use a lot of Loosenit on the nuts. Break off a stud and its a lot of work. Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate!!! |

not trusting myself to not have bolts leftover, i elected to have hedmans installed on our '88 345. also had a holley 750, flowmasters and msd installed. definitely added some scoot. now as soon as i get the rear airbags replaced we'll be on the road. anyone know anyone in jax, fl who does airbags? cw says they don't.

tubeowner - I would look for a commercial truck shop in jax. We have a local Chevy commerical dealership here in Lousiville and they'll do "real" work like suspension, drivetshaft balanecing, etc. While a "motorhome" might scare some, if you explain it's a P30 chassis they'll get it and will have likely worked on hundreds of them. You can also purchase the bags at FleetPride. They might also have a recommendation on a local shop to do the work. Welcome to the site! |

Welcome to the site tubeowner!
Take a look at my DIY for the rear air bag carrier. This was supplied to Airstream buy a company called American Carrier System (Equipment) in Fresno, CA.
Get the phone numbers from the DIY and give Paul a call. He might be able to point you to a shop that works on their system. They supply these units to big truck and trailer manufacturers. |
