Not that it will be hard to do.....going to do preventative maintentence and replace our 454 with a ? 502 set up for RVS with more torque at lower rpm. We run a GV and usually cruise about 2200 rpm. We are going to be travelling a lot more with many grades (6-7%) and want the increased torque for pulling. Are there any engine braking systems out there for gassers? We have an 85 345 and pull a mini cooper with a brake buddy but still have to ride the brakes coming down grades.......if there are no systems available is it better to stress the tranny? Soo, have fun use our checkbook and what would you upgrade, and/or replace.

Yesterday I layed out the better way to duit.....Hit preview and zapped it Grrrrrrr

If you have e'nuf down time I would just rebuild your well seasoned 454 engine....

Make it into a 496 with a quarter stroker kit and a sixty over bore, Cam it with a (@ 050) 206 intake and a 212 exhaust and gently massage the heads and you will have a torque monster.

With all of that new stuff a great engine balance would reward you also....$3300.00 to $4000.00 would/should be a good cost foundation PLUS all of the externals will bolt back on......

I have seen a unit that uses an electromagnetic wheel to slow & even stop a motorhome. A friend of mine has a Champion with one. He says he hasn"t used his foot brake for years.
