The installation was not too bad.  I did splice into the existing wire harness at the rear inside the upper cabinets and up front.   I also gutted and used the existing camera housing and attached (actually wedged) the new camera in with high density foam and some clear goop.   Initially, I put the glass back but removed it because of glare from the LEDs in the new camera.  Be sure to set the normal/reverse screw to your liking before you seal it up.  I didn't and had a heck of a time with a drill, long skinny screw driver, a flashlight and inspection mirror but got the job done.  It is worth running a line up from your video output, if you're comfortable with that.  Good luck!

I went ahead and ordered the setup.  Mine is on its last legs.  Stick around.  I may need some expertise in the future when it arrives.  Can you post some pictures of your setup???

I'll take some pictures.  Being able to get them posted will be the challenge.  We'll see what happens.  The installation is really not that hard.  Just start unbolting the old stuff and get down to the wire harness.  I had a bit of a time removing the original plug from the camera housing and had to be creative with a body seal for the wiring.  I used a rubber grommet and a quantity of gray sealant which has worked fine.  As I recall, there were two power wires going to the monitor, one is switched with the ignition and the other comes on when you shift into reverse.  The rest is just keeping color codes straight.
I do enjoy having the aux channel tied into the video system, which is also tied into the audio system. (don't tell the police)  You can get everything you'll need at Radio Shack or Walmart.

Fedex just delivered my back-up setup fifteen minutes ago.  Can't wait to open it up and start planning how I will install it.

Can't wait to get started.  However, I can't today.  I am the Chairman of our Shoreland Owners Assn. and I have a general membership meeting tonight to get ready for.  Elections tonight.  Maybe I'll get voted out and will have more time for myself.

Also I shoot skeet and trap every Wednesday afternoon, so I could say, my day is pretty well shot!!

I will take pictures and do a DIY when I get started.  Got some pics from Woodrow that, with his permission I will use as well.

I have opened the package now and the unit looks like it is good quality.  That's really a good buy! Woodrow's rear camera braket is rectangular while mine is round.  Not sure it will fit in my braket.  May have to improvise.  FIELD EXPEDIENCY!  I love it!

Hey JK.  Does this system allow for a microphone at the camera like the new rigs do?  No big deal if it doesn't, just wondering if you tackled that.  Will probably start the install tomorrow.

Wonder where this unit was made.  Quality looks pretty good, but the manual has some weird statements in it.  Like "please to" and such.

Yes but I didn't bother with it.  All you might hear is "crunch" if you see yourself back into something.... If I have an assistant back there, hand signals work best.
It wasn't made in Ohio I'm sure.  Taiwan, Korea, China - take your pick.

Well, having heard that "crunch" at least once, I guess I would agree.  The camera doesn't seem to have a mike built into it anyway.  Probably have to set up a separate mike but then would probably need a tuner as well.  Not worth it I think.

Probably start working on it this afternoon.

It will take a pitcher full of lemonade and abour three hours. Longer if you're dringing beer.  Let me know how close I am.  Good luck!
