Chris, I wanted to refinish the pan for one, but since the vinyal wall covering was failing and it extended down below the pan....it needed to come out. I also wanted to make sure I didn't have any water damage in there. The vent cover in the shower is missing and when it rains I get a little water in there. Foretunately, the plywood floor was fine.
