My steps work great, but the wiring
is critical. When the door is opened, the steps extend and when
its closed they retract. However, if the engine isn't running you
can extend them and leave them or retract them each time you close the
door. Just don't drive with the door open.

I have the original step, looks like the phnumatics may have failed. I'm going to bench test them, if it ever warms up when I have time to work on them. Anyway if that fails, I'm thinking of re-installing them to work manually. May have to machine up a piece or two. |

I have a single step electric (Kwickee I think) that was added by a PO. They work "kind of". They will do the automatic function with the switch on, extend when the door is opened and retract when the door is closed. BUT - the safety feature of them retracting when ever the ignition switch is turned on is backwards! The step extends whenever I start the 310. I hav un-wired, re-wired, de-wired, run all the tests in the owners manual but I can't overcome this little problem. I am thinking that the "brain" is bad. I actually unplug the wiring harness before I start and move the 310 to keep the step retracted. |

I'm guilty
Worked on the step wiring, and did not have it fully working. Everything except the warning if engine is started. Drove about 50 miles with them out on our frist trip.
A UPS truck pulled up beside us and waved franticly... Pulled over and raised them, no visable damage to steps...
Don't know about all the mail boxes and trash cans. |

Looks pretty simple to re-install the ones I have and make them manual. I like simple, you know the KISS method |

You have the original powered steps, but not powered now?
Maybe a power window unit could be made to work. Cheep at junk yard. Get one from rear window, not used as much |
