Your son will be going all the way across our state, from Memphis to Bristol. We are in Columbia, south of Nashville about 45 miles. We will be glad to supply a bed, warm shower and some grub, or hook ups if that would be better for him. If problems arise will try to help if at all possible.
Love your country. We had the opportunity to travel to Sligo, Ireland for a mission trip with Masonries Venture. While in Ireland, we were invited to a MV conference in Lythan St Anne's. Wonderfull country and people. Loved the country side in Scotland as well.
PM me if we can be of help.
PS: know your AS will have fun on some of them small city streets! |

| Hi, Thank you so much for your very kind offer of hospitality to Tim, But he will not have time to call as he has to get to the port and there is so little time to spare. However if you are ever in England please visit us in our little Catherdral town of Bury St Edmunds. We live in the old medievil area of the town in a very old timber framed house. The classic airstream will cause quite a stir when it finally arrives!. Bless you for your kindness, regards, Candida and Sandy |

How exciting to see the membership grow! It is great to have a forum that addresses the issues unique to our classics. Kudos to you organizers! We have a 310 Airstream. Ernestine is currently getting a Gear Vendor upgrade. Hasn't been entirely a cakewalk, but we are optimistic. My husband is documenting the field installation complete with photos and will post when the job is accomplished. He has also been playing with the dash wiring to prepare for a new sound system and find a dedicated power supply for the GV. What a rats nest!
As for me, today I install the bedroom carpet. Found a perfect carpet at Menard's that we needed for the cockpit. We decided to go hybrid on the flooring. We'll have floating cork in the entry/galley/bath area and carpet in the rest. Many have cautioned against carpet, but we are actually pretty careful about tracking in debris, and purchased extra for the living room if we need to replace it down the road. The cork will give us a buffer area for wiping dog paws and taking off shoes. We did make a discovery when I removed the old carpet. There was a square of plywood we could remove that revealed access to the fuel line for the genset --had to open some aluminum too. (When we had it worked on a while back, the mechanic said that the fuel hose was possibly "sucking air" and getting at it would mean draining the gas tank which had 60 gallons in it at the time, and pulling the genset. ) My husband replaced the line which was intact after all, but definitely deteriorating. Yaaay!
Keep your fingers crossed. We must have the GV in and be ready to roll to P&S in Ohio in less than two weeks!

Take lots and lots of pictures and do a DIY for us when you're done.
Discovering that fuel line hatch may be a major bit of information for someone else as well.
How are you fastening the carpet in the cockpit? I for one left the carpet there and did wood floor in the rest of the coach. I like the sound deadening effect of the carpet. I did take the carpet out of the bedroom and bath. Too hard to clean in those tight places.
I am also interested int the Gear Vendors. On the other forum, Chaplain Kent was told it wouldn't work in his diesel. I wonder why. I also have a diesel. |

Well, the GV is in, but yesterday was an adventure. My husband had an unrelated accident...hit in the face with a 2x6 (I was NOT involved! ). Nose not broken, but a lovely cut and two black, swollen eyes. I was home, thank goodness, and heard the crash so we got him to the ER right away. Undaunted, he finished the installation and is pretty happy, though imaginably sore today. We'll get those photos posted when he finishes the final steps. By the way, the GV folks are very accomodating. You might want to give them a call to ask about the diesel. Finished the bedroom carpet. It was more wrestling than I thought, but for the $ I saved, well worth it. I used an electric staple gun which was a big help. (We will be using cork from the bedroom to the livingroom. Carpet in the bathroom doesn't make sense to me either.) I haven't pulled out the cockpit carpet yet. Some of the area seems to be plywood, but I assume that there is metal floor up by the pedals. I do know that the carpet pieces on the side walls there were stapled in. I don't want to do that. My plan is to use carpet tape and industrial strength velcro to hold it in place. (May need to Gorilla glue the Velcro pieces in.) That will allow removal of the carpet and a way to reinstall if someone wants to. If I can manage, I am going to try to cut it as one whole piece, including sides. That way, the part taped and stapled to wood will help stabilize the rest. We'll see. It will definitely be a greater challenge than the bedroom was! |

| The cockpit area is all metal floored. There is also a step from the lounge area to the cockpit that covers a metal extension covering the engine compartment. I assume you are removing the seats to do all of thes. Big Job!!! |

Thanks for the welcome, ... but a bath for my baby is in order before I post any pics.... got my "new to me" 1977 Holiday Rambler Imperial 5000!
Hey... I finally read the sticker on the side of the coach! but as it's been sitting outside unused ...but plugged in full time an run occasionally, the motor and tranny seem good. bought it from some friends that started to put a big chunk of change into it, but quit because of ill health.... I put on new rubber, shocks, new chassis battery and a steering damper.... Only a few more things to check.... like the brakes, hoses, change all the fluids, coach batteries...etc...oh and the LP tank.... and the inside.... got rid of the ugly drapes and the two single mattresses, am going to widen one side and build a desk on the other, ripped out the little "TV cabinet", going ot get a cheap chrome rack for the electronic stuff.... repaint the inside, make new blinds, rip down the ceiling carpet that's falling down and do something with the ceiling... just minor stuff... Oh , and check out all the onboard systems! However the last owners did make a few upgrades.... all new appliances including the fridge ( I hope it still works!), new captain's chairs, couch and rocker, (all Flexsteel), ... and the important "guy" stuff....wired in 6 ceiling speakers, added airbags, a trailer hitch, rear roof ladder, new cam ( the guy is a bike mechanic...).... spotlight and those big air horns!
and finish up a few other details, like sell my Jeep Liberty and one of my bikes.... and fix the wiring on another.... And it's too friggin cold outisde to do anything...... dang snow!
Now to find enuf $$$ to get everything ready to take off for a trip to Cali by the middle of May to pick up my son from college...
Very interesting reading this forum.... I'll be yelling for help later..... LOTS of help! Thanks Mary
