Minnesota is a right to carry state and I do have the permit.  I don't usually carry, but there are certain places that I do feel safer if I am.  I have been in some rest stops that were quite scary at night.  A couple even had armed guards on duty 24/7.

On a different note, I, and a lot of other old veterans belong to an American Legion Gun Club and one night a week we all meet and shoot skeet and trap and a lot of BS too.  We have a lot of fun and no ones been killed or even wounded yet.  Remember, that bb gun will put your eye out!

Any other shooters out there?

Am a gun guy here, used to be in Law Enforcement, don't pack much any more though I still have my CCW. Used to do a lot of shooting, IPSC and IDPA. Had a pretty impressive collection at one time and did a lot of hobby gunsmithing but have sold off the machine tools and most of the guns.

Used to shoot in the leagues for 12 years.  Then quit cold for 12 years and now am shooting again.  Trap and Skeet just for fun.  Sometimes we don't even keep score.  Lots more fun with no pressure.

Tuesday nights is M1 night.  I don't have one, but there is a club that is devoted to them.  Civialian Marksmanship Program.  They let me shoot them sometimes.  Fine rifle.  When I came back from Viet Nam I was issued an M1.

Same background as I.  I am surprised that your state has the permit law.  I thought that most of New England was waasasy against that kind of thing.  I am surprised that we got it through in Minnesoooota as well.  The land of 10,000 taxes.

Don't forget this is the "Live Free or Die" state

Yeah.  I did forget your motto.  I keep thinking of Kerry and Kennedy.  Not your state.  Sorry!

There used to be a site called "Packing.org" where one could check the laws of various states on handguns.  For some reason it is no longer there.  I have found two others that are up and running though.

The best one is:  http://www.handgunlaw.us

Another resource is:  http://www.usconcealedcarry.com

The second one is actually a for profit group.  Both are good resources.

Sometimes carry a shotgun along. Only one time did I ever have to even think about getting it out. Wen't for a weekend in Mt Ayr, IA and stayed at a wonderfull county campground. The place had just been redone, new gravel parking areas, electricity, water and sewer for all of $5.00 a night!

We were the only ones in the park and it was about 10:30 at night and saw headlights pull in. Someone banged on the door and said they were the park ranger. Looked out the window and just some guy in regular clothes and a beat up pickup. Told him if he was the ranger to come back in the morning, he kept banging on the door, I got the shotgun out and cycled a round into the chamber and told him I would shoot through the door if he didn't leave! He left in a hurry!

The next day a county pickup pulled in and a gentleman in a uniform got out, stated he was the ranger and would like to collect for the campsite. Asked him if he or another ranger had been around the night before. He stated they would not come into the park that hour of night banging on doors unless there was a problem. Said they would keep an eye on the park while we were there. Never had a problem for the rest of the stay.

Other then that, we have been lucky I guess.

Used to shoot trap and skeet, but kind of got away from it after my dad died. Go shoot at a farm with the kids now and again for fun.
