I've done a lot of searching, but found little up-to-date info that fits the bill.

I'm looking for an RV park within 50 miles of Pasadena, CA that has electricty and water and has monthly rates (I'm planning a 6-month stay).  The best I've found so far is KOA near Pamona, but they require your rig to be 10-years older or less????   Is that true? (Mine is an '83 Exec. Diplomat)

Any other recommendations for a budget camping/parking spot near Pasadena that allows long-term?  Aside from the KOA site I found, most others I've Googled seem out of date.

Thanks.

I'm really sad right now.  I wish I had known this prior to buying an 'old RV' to fix up.

I've searched, but there are very few campgrounds in the So-Cal area that will allow RV's in their parks if the RV is 10+ years old.  (Note: I'm looking for a 6 mo+ stay, not just overnight)

So, while I thought I was getting a great deal on an '83 Executive Diplomat that, with a few minor repairs to make it work and look like new, I can't park it anywhere besides my driveway in Indiana.

I called around to all the RV parks I could find via Google, and few will have me.  Those that will are comparitively much more expensive than those with age restrictions.

So it looks like I'm going to drive my pick-up to CA and live in an "extended stay hotel"... and will be putting the old RV up for sale as soon as I return home if not sooner.

And it really sucks because... well... I've really started to develp an affection for the old beast.

Sorry to say but thee are a lot getting that way. That along with the price of fuel....I think we are going to park here and pack it up! I will finish the inside and then...Run it once a month to fill the propane tank and thats it!!! I have the trailer I am building for to haul our stuff and truck, and I may use it to haul old cars to the metal recyclers and make a few bucks. Sorry if that is a cop out but I am not making enough to travel so....I am packing it in! The government wins and sucks to be us!!

Hi! We frequent a RV park in the Dallas area that also has the 10 year restriction. I have an 86 345 and called and talked with the manager and asked for an exception to the rule. He agreed to let us spend the night contigent on the rig not being trashed. We now stay at that park on a regular basis without any inspections and can use this park as a reference for other parks that have that same rule.

It won't hurt to ask!

Pete

if your unit is clean, why not tell them it's a '98 model! personally i don't care for such snobbery but I do understand they do not want units that when they get there will never be able to move again.

This is gonna smart, But one of teh bigest reasons for the  10+ rule is because of Drug manufacting!!! They buy a old rv with the stove and take it to a park and stay there till they make the drug and then leave and the old rv just stays there! Its hard to get rid of a rv that was used for this purpose as it REALLY STINKS!!!!!!  If those of you that had kids say about 20 to 30 years ago, if you were to burn a baby diaper you could kinda get that smell X100 and that is what it smells like. They got one here last week and I called the cops and they went searching, Don't know if they found them or not???  There are other reasons as a rv that hasn't seen  paint or wax in 30 years or so don't look to good in a upper class park. I guess these two are the biggest reasons, around here at least.

We have stayed at a park in San Dimas that has a lot of older rigs and fulltimers, it is called East Shore rv park. It overlooks Puddingstone lake and is ??maybe 20 miles from Pasadena. They want to see a picture of your rig if you want to stay there fulltime. Debbie
