I do have the parts manual if you need it.  I'm not sure if there is a Service Manual.  I think the Operators Manual is all inclusive.  I also have the Installation Manual.

Don't know if you have this address, but it can be helpful in troubleshooting Onan Generators.

I just recentl purchased a 1983 Holiday Rambler 34' that is in good shape. I have to ask a stupid question since I dont have all the manuals. Can the generator be operated while driving?

Absolutely.  I run mine all the time on the road.  It powers our roof air and my wife's computer.  I seldom use the vehicle air conditioner.  The roof air works much better.

Thanks for the reply, thats good news to hear.  The guy I bought the motor home from only used it once, and he was plugged in to a 110 outlet.  He never ran the generator and couldnt tell me anything about it.

Coop, again thanks for the manuals. I have a stupid question on performing a basic procedure. How do you get and accurate RPM reading. I have an engine analyzer that hooks up to the coil but it only goes down to 4 cyl. Any thoughs?

Don't worry about the rpm's.  Run a drop cord from the outlets on the other side of the coach under the coach to the generator and plug in a voltage meter and place it where you can see it.  Then adjust your rpms to the correct voltage.

I might also add that my voltage meter proved to be reading too low when checked against another one at the shop.  The lowest voltage the generator will put out is 108 volts.  Any less than that and the meter is wrong.

I use a "Kill o watt" to look at voltages and also the cycles it's running at..............

My Onan 6500 runs (no load) at 123 volts and 61.1 cycles and under a load (both airs) it's 115 volts at 59.6 cycles, The "kill o watt" is a good tool and the prices are down around $25.00 now.

Jim,
Great tip...do you have a source? (I'm chasing some issue on my Onan). I found this one: http://www.powermeterstore.com/p4578/kill-a-watt_ez.php

Is that what you meant?
