My 6.5 onan has about 400 hours and has been well maintained. The choke sucks on startup but after getting warmed up runs fine. Volts are fine at no load/ full load but I like to tweak things. I usually break things while tweaking so I need advise before I tweak. I'd like to have the best lean/ rich mixture. Seems to run a bit rich. Stacey

Well, Do you have a frequency meter? Gotta have that before touch anything......If your running 60 Hz with some type of load I would leave it alone and just run some "Berrryman B-12" through the entire fuel system every 4-5 tank fulls... To keep it clean. Jim

the only improvements to make would be first a thorough tune-up,plugs fuel and airfilter, oil filter change and run a synthedic 15w-40 oil, the speed is what controls frequency, which is controled by governor, you can change the points over to an electronic control from onan, slight adjustments of the air fuel can be done, you need to know how to do the old lean drop method to reach proper setting. also i run the unit dry to not let fuel sit in the carburetor when not used, maybe run with a load and lightly mist water over the ignition system to check for wires or coil arcing causing skips that about all to keep it running in top shape
