The previous owner of our 345 took it to Arizona every winter for ten years and must have driven through a sand storm or something.  The clear coat on the front and front sides is pitted and almost looks sand blasted.  The clear coat on the front bumper was also bad, but I buffed that off and now is just a dull silver.

Has anyone ever repaired pitted clear coat without re-doing the entire unit?  I have seen spray cans of clear coat.  Does that work?

I have redone the inside of our coach and now want to work on the exterior.

I have sen repairs made with Plasti coat, the clear that Airstreams sells. It looked seamless. I'm thinking of trying a spot on my Overlander. You should do a test spot in an area you can net see that well. I have a brother that has been in auto body since we were kids, He is real good. Mask off an area and give it 3 to 4 coats. First and maybe second coat with the masking. 3rd and 4th with out, so you can feather the area in...

I can't wait to paint the Peanut

Thanks, as soon as it warms up I'm going to give it a try.

Mine looked bad too.
Like years of bugs got stuck and when washed off took some clear coat with them.
Tried polishing, just looked dull.
Ended up stripping all the clear off front end from grill down.
Took out the headlights out and noticed they had clearcoat on them too.
Had to really work on grill with small 3M pads.
Got it looking silver again, and bumper polished up like chrome.
Taped off bars on grill and sprayed metalic gray all around headlights and grill bars.
Have not re-cleared as I want to polish more.

I have tried to polish the bumper, but can't get it to shine.  Your rig looks nice.  Is that red white and blue tape, or paint?

Is tape...reflective tape.
Thought first was going to paint.
Ran short of time and went with tape.
So much faster!
Went right over woodgrain...sprayed Windex and peeled off loose edges.

Mothers on bumpers...if rag does not turn black, you still have clear coat on it.

Wow!. That looks terrific! I started a polish on mine last summer. I used a non ASF/WBCCI/Perfect Polish approach and got great results. Klattu, yours looks great.

Cooperhawk - make sure you strip the cleacoat before you polish. I made that mistake on my bumper.

My front bumber was very pitted so I used an electric buffer and compound on it.  No more clear coat, but I can't get that shine.  Will try Mothers when it gets warmer.
