Hello, I am wondering what the cargo carrying capacity of a 1992 36' land yacht. It is a chevy chassis with a tag axle. The GVW is 18,900. I am trying to get a ballpark on the CCC before spending a lot of time looking at the coach. It may be way off of what I would like to see for full timing. If I get real serious I will get it weighed before purchase. Does this rig make a decent full timing coach for 2? It has a chevy 454 engine. Any advice regarding unique problems with this year. I am unsure of the model, is there a listing of the different models? What kind of fuel mileage can I expect towing a small toad? The seller says he gets 8-10 but I neglected to ask if that was towing. This would be my first motorhome and I am impressed with the quality and condition of this 16 year old coach. Most everything works and the owner appears to have taken care of it although at this age they all would need some work. Too many questions, all advice is welcome. Thank you, R.D.

If you are going to the trouble to get it weighed, be sure to weigh each axel seperately. If they cannot do the tag seperately then at least you will know front/back weights and then you can load appropriately. Of course, weight dry and wet ( full water & fuel compliment) would be ideal. It would also be great if you knew the front/rear spring specifications. Remember that after holding up the existing weight for all these years the springs will loose their capacity. Check all leaves for visible breaks too. That's all I can suggest. I have no idea of the other areas.

We have lived in our 1985 345 for six weeks at a time with no problem. I am sure your model has more room. I can't answer to the mileage as ours is a diesel, but it does lower mileage to tow. Just check all appliances to see that they work properly and drive the unit to get a feel if it controls easily. If not then it probably needs shocks.
